About the interviewee

Nellie Akalp is a serial entrepreneur, mom of four and CEO of CorpNet.com where she assists entrepreneurs in starting, growing and maintaining their businesses.

Tell me about your firm (number of employees, location, type of companies you work with, etc.).

CorpNet.com has 15 employees and is based in Westlake Village, CA. We work with small businesses and entrepreneurs across at 50 states.

Tell us about what it means to you to “put customers first”?

Each client is our boss, that’s how we see the relationship. So not only do we put our customers first, we cater to their every need to make sure they are completely happy and satisfied with our services from beginning to end. We listen to them, engage with them and keep the door open so they know they can come back and ask questions anytime during their career as a business owner. By giving our clients this one-to-one customer service experience we are able to differentiate ourselves from big-name competitors who just can’t do that. It’s the perk of being a small business who caters to small businesses!

What mistake do businesses make when it comes to taking care of customers?

I think the biggest mistakes businesses make when it comes to taking care of customers is not listening to them and not following through with what they promised to deliver to in the first place. I’ve worked with many other companies and services throughout my career and unfortunately many have over promised and under delivered which is never fun.

What is your firm doing to demonstrate your beliefs in this principle?

In addition to being available, providing free business consultation calls and helping our clients every step of the way we do much more and always go above and beyond. If a client is local and wants something hand delivered, we do that at no charge. We guarantee our service and everything that accompanies it. If we have quoted a specific delivery date and we are even one day late, the service will be free. If a client is unhappy for any other reason, we will provide a refund to try and make the relationship better.
