8 Cool Party Activities for Your 8 Year Old

Are you looking for a way to keep your 8 year old entertained at the next birthday party? In addition to having great 8 year old boy gifts, there are plenty of fun activities that you can choose from to ensure that your party is a success. If they enjoy the outdoors, why not have a water balloon fight? Another great idea would be to make up a scavenger hunt for them and hide prizes throughout the house or backyard as they find each one. We have compiled a list of 8 cool activities that will help make your party an unforgettable experience.

Have a Water Balloon Fight

If your child likes having fun with their friends and getting a little wet, then this is the activity for you. This can be done as an individual or team event; however, it’s much more fun when everyone gets involved! Have each guest bring their water balloons with them to the party. If they don’t have any, you can always make some using gallon-sized Ziploc bags filled halfway with water and food coloring if desired. You’ll even want to include a few different colors so that players can split up into teams before starting. To make sure that all of the kids have enough balloons to play with throughout the party, try creating a balloon station where they can grab them from whenever necessary.

Pin The Tail On The Donkey

This classic game will never go out of style at birthday parties because there’s just something so entertaining about trying to blindfold someone else and pinning a tail on them!  You’ll need to create a donkey template for this activity and cut it out of cardboard before using it as the base to attach their tail. You might even want to print off some different size donkeys so that everyone has an equal shot at winning! You can set up multiple donkeys around your house or backyard if you’d like to host several races throughout one party.

Watch an Old Disney Movie Together

One of the great things about Disney movies is that they never seem to get old. Suppose you’re looking for a way to keep your guests entertained and relaxed, put on one of their favorite classic films like The Lion King or Mary Poppins. This is a great activity for the entire family, and you can even make it part of the party’s theme. For example, ask your child’s friends to wear their favorite Disney costumes or dress as one of their favorite characters from a movie like Toy Story. Not only will the kids enjoy watching them, but parents can join in on the fun too!

Set Up an Obstacle Course

If you have enough space, you can transform your backyard by setting up an obstacle course for the kids to race through. This can be an individual or team event. You’ll want to make it challenging enough so that they have to work together to finish, but not too difficult since you don’t want anyone getting hurt! Use cones for your course design and set up barriers like hula hoops around different parts of the yard. This is perfect if you want to keep them active throughout the party. You can make it as challenging (or easy) as you’d like by including different obstacles such as tunnels, balance beams, and hurdles.

Make a Cake

It’s always fun to have a little bit of competition when it comes to baking cakes. See who can make the best dessert by giving everyone different ingredients and seeing who can come up with the most impressive cake.  You can even set up a “cakewalk” where the kids have to follow instructions given by their parents to keep them occupied. This is also an excellent way for you and your child’s friends’ parents to get together if they’re not familiar with one another yet!

Play Board Games or Card Games

Board games and card games are perfect for parties because any number of people can play them. This is also a great way to keep kids entertained if the weather isn’t cooperating outside. Some classics that always seem to be popular include Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and Uno.

Have Fun With Slime

Slime is all the rage right now, so why not let your child try their hand at making some? This is one activity that they’ll love to take part in, and it’s mess-free! If you’d like, you can even let them bring this slime home with them after the party. There are many different recipes available online so be sure to check out a few before deciding which one is best for your child’s birthday celebration.

The 8-Second Challenge

This is a great game for your child’s friends to play because it will help them learn to work together. Split the kids into two teams and ask each person on their team to stand back-to-back with one another. You can either give them an object like a balloon or stuffed animal or take away something they’re holding. Then, tell them to stand back-to-back and count backward from eight seconds. Once they reach zero, the teams have eight seconds to put whatever is in their hands into a bag that’s placed between them. If someone gets tagged during this time or something falls out of people’s hands before reaching the bag, it counts as a loss for their team. If they’re able to pass the object between them before time is up successfully, then it’s a win!
