If you’re like a lot of people, your car is going to feel a bit like your second home – you spend so much time in it commuting, doing the school run, taking road trips, going shopping, and so on, that you might want to do a few things to it to add a touch of style. After all, you might as well show off your personality a bit (or a lot) if you’re spending so much time in a place.
How can you get started if that sounds like something you might want to do? Well, the good news is there are tons of options, and although you might instantly think of fluffy dice and car stickers, there are many other ideas you could try out, so keep reading to find out more – if you’re going to be in the car, you might as well enjoy it.
Give The Car Some TLC
It might be that your car has seen better days, and in that case, some TLC can really go a long way – a quick wash and a wax isn’t just for those who are really into their cars and want to keep their sparkling at all times; it’s for anyone who wants to feel good about the car they’re driving (and if you drive yours a lot, that’s you in all likelihood). And why not add a nice-smelling air freshener to finish things off in just the right way?
If you want to go a bit further than keeping your car clean (which isn’t just about looks, by the way; it’s about keeping the bodywork in good condition and ensuring the vehicle lasts longer, which can surprise people when they find out), what about investing in some new alloy wheels or maybe even a spoiler? They’re not technically going to help make your car any faster or drive better, but if it looks good, you’ll be happy to be behind the wheel.
Make It Your Car
When you look around you’re going to see a lot of other cars just like your one (unless you happen to have something really unique, of course, like a classic car or something you’ve custom-built), so what about adding some extra bits and pieces to make it stand out and really make it yours? One of the best ways to do that is to get some private plates because then you’ll definitely stand out from the crowd and you’ll be able to find your car easily in a car park, even if it looks similar to plenty of others.
You could also add the alloys and spoilers we mentioned above, or perhaps do something with the interior to make it more your style than the one the car came with – we’ll look at that next.
Change The Interior
As we’ve said, you probably spend hours inside your car, whether that’s hours all at once, or added up over the course of a week or a month – no matter what’s it’s still a lot of time. So why sit in a boring space? If your living room was boring and you spend a lot of time there, you’d do something about it, and the same goes for your bedroom, home office, kitchen, even your garden, so why should your car be any different?
There are so many things you can do to change the interior of your car, and you absolutely don’t have to stick to whatever the manufacturer’s decided was for the best (although bear in mind that when you sell the car in the future, it might be worth more if it’s got the original interior – or less. It’s worth checking that out so you know whether you put everything back the way it was or not!).
You could start with a great steering wheel cover that feels nice in your hands – perhaps suede or soft leather is a good choice for you. And then you might add some organisers for drinks, your phone, and anything else you need to have in the vehicle. Finally, what about the seat covers themselves? You don’t have to rip everything out and start again (although if you want entirely new seats, that’s what you’ll have to do) because you can generally find new seat covers that just slip over the old ones. Not only will that mean you’ve got a unique and comfortable car, but you’ll also be protecting the original covers, making it worth more in the end, so there’s a double reason for doing it.
