Kevin Price, Host of the Price of Business on Business Talk 1110 AM KTEK (on Bloomberg’s home in Houston) recently interviewed Jordhy Ledesma.

About the interviewee 

Jordhy Ledesma is a designer, entrepreneur, mathematician, professional chess player and writer whose work has been recognized by the United Nations’ World Summit Awards, The Organization of Ibero-American States and The Miss Universe Organization.

As reported by Bloomberg BusinessWeek, his latest research work, the best-selling business case “Investing in Language Learning”, presents a new financial model that helped Best Buy and Rosetta Stone allocate funds towards language learning for customer service representatives.

Jordhy Ledesma first appeared on national TV at age 14, then won the National Math Olympiads at age 17 and led the Dominican Math team to two bronze medals. He’s a Batten Scholar, a three-time collegiate chess champion and a three-time Miss Universe Dominican Republic co-sponsor.

In less than 40 years, Mr. Ledesma has written 10 books, produced over 200 websites and created employment for over 100 professionals.

Tell us about what it means to you to “put customers first”?

Putting your customers first means managing with their needs, desires and limitations in mind. By being empathic and prioritize according to their organizational goals and values.

As a consultant, is very important to me that I connect well with new clients and reach a level of trust that can allow me an entrance to their C-suite. Only then can we work together in re-shaping their organization by using new methods and technologies.

Putting your customers first means finding and implementing technologies that complement their existing ecosystem. It also means leveraging pre-existing assets and harvesting the needs and wants of key executives so that your project’s outcomes provide a solution to relevant organizational pain points.

What mistake do businesses make when it comes to taking care of customers?

Our society is filled with product driven businesses. This is a shame, as we need more customer driven providers. We need to personalize every detail of our products and services so that customers see their particular problems taken care of with great diligence.
