Brandon Erickson: Building Leaders at Work and at Home

Growing Ideas Into Businesses

Brandon Erickson’s career began with a leap of faith. After leaving college in 2008, he started 7 Innovations LLC, an online venture that grew into nearly $50 million in revenues. That early success opened doors into biotech, real estate, and eventually his current role leading North Valley Precision (NVP), a quality assurance company approaching 100 employees.

“From the start, I wanted to build things that lasted,” Erickson says. “It wasn’t just about profits. It was about creating opportunities for others to grow.”

Promoting Leaders From Within NVP

At NVP, Erickson has made leadership development a priority. Many of the company’s managers began in entry-level roles. He believes in giving people room to learn, make mistakes, and rise.

“I know what it feels like to start from scratch,” he explains. “That’s why I want people here to see a path forward. If they show initiative, we’ll give them the chance to lead.”

By investing in his employees’ growth, Erickson has built a culture where talent is recognized early and nurtured into leadership.

Employees Driving Growth Through Ideas and Profit Sharing

Another part of that culture is ownership. Erickson designed NVP’s profit-sharing program so employees share directly in the company’s wins. “When the company grows, everyone benefits,” he says.

The approach also extends to decision-making. New ideas often come from the floor, not the boardroom. “The creation of our metal finishing division came straight from employee input,” Erickson recalls. “Our people saw a need, they spoke up, and we listened. That division is now a cornerstone of our future.”

Teaching Life Lessons on the Golf Course

Outside the office, Erickson’s leadership lessons continue on the golf course with his sons. Golf, to him, is more than a game—it’s a classroom for life.

“On the course, you learn patience, humility, and how to recover from setbacks,” he says. “Those lessons stick with my boys in ways a lecture never could.”

He sees golf as a mirror of business: both require focus, adaptability, and a steady hand under pressure. Coaching his sons through challenges on the fairway is one of his favorite ways to teach resilience.

Walking Beside His Son in Tournaments

For Erickson, parenting is also about presence. He often walks alongside his oldest son during golf tournaments, not as a coach but as a supporter.

“It’s about showing him that I’m there, no matter the outcome,” Erickson says. “Win or lose, he knows I’m walking every step with him.”

That simple act reflects his approach to leadership as well. Whether at home or at work, Erickson believes progress is built on encouragement and trust.

A Philosophy of Shared Success

Across his career and personal life, a consistent theme emerges: growth through shared success. From building businesses to guiding his family, Erickson has relied on collaboration and investment in people.

“Big ideas only matter if others can be part of them,” he reflects. “When people see that their effort matters, they don’t just show up—they show up with purpose.”
