Two-part September experience explores what happens when wellness becomes overwhelming and more information is no longer the answer
New online workshop explores why people navigating chronic illness can become overwhelmed by the pursuit of wellness and offers a different starting point for understanding what they may need next.
Central WI | August 27, 2026 | Wendy Bjork, founder of Hearts of Wellness, nationally syndicated columnist, speaker and longtime Multiple Sclerosis advocate, today announced The Hidden Root of Wellness, a free two-part online workshop series taking place September 9 and September 16, 2026.
The series was created for people navigating chronic illness who have invested significant time, energy and resources into their health, yet have reached a frustrating crossroads:
“I’ve tried so much, I don’t know what I need anymore.”
For people living with chronic health conditions, managing wellness can gradually become an enormous part of everyday life. Appointments, therapies, supplements, programs, dietary changes, research and the continual search for answers can consume not only money, but also attention and energy that might otherwise go toward family, work, relationships, interests and future plans.
The Hidden Root of Wellness introduces participants to a different starting point: rather than immediately searching for the next solution, Bjork invites them to become more aware of what may be happening beneath their wellness story and begin recognizing what they need now.
When Wellness Becomes a Full-Time Job
Bjork brings more than four decades of lived experience navigating Multiple Sclerosis to her work with the chronic illness community.
Through that experience, she has observed a challenge that receives far less attention than symptoms themselves: people can become so focused on managing their health that wellness begins taking center stage in their lives.
“People living with chronic illness are often incredibly proactive,” Bjork said. “They research, advocate for themselves, try different approaches and invest in feeling better. But there can come a point when having more information doesn’t necessarily create more clarity. You can find yourself asking, ‘After everything I’ve tried, how do I know what I actually need?’”
The Hidden Root of Wellness was developed to explore that question.
Rather than presenting participants with another lengthy wellness checklist, the two-part series creates an opportunity to step outside the cycle of continually searching for the next answer and begin developing greater awareness of their own needs, signals and inner guidance.
From Information Overload to Greater Clarity
The September series will explore the relationship people develop with themselves and their bodies while navigating long-term health challenges.
Participants will be encouraged to consider what it could look like to recognize depletion earlier, rest with less guilt, feel less rushed, become more present in relationships and begin shifting from frustration with the body toward greater understanding of it.
The workshops will also explore the difference between gathering more information and developing the ability to discern what information is actually useful.
For Bjork, this distinction is central to helping people reclaim something chronic illness can quietly consume: space for the rest of their lives.
“Your health matters enormously, but you are still a whole person with people you love, things you want to experience and a life beyond managing your health,” Bjork said. “My work is ultimately about creating more room for that life.”
A Two-Part Introduction to a Deeper Approach to Wellness
Part One, September 9, will help participants begin recognizing what may be beneath their current wellness experience and become more aware of what they need now.
Part Two, September 16, builds upon that awareness by helping participants strengthen their ability to listen, discern and identify what may be asking for their attention next.
The workshops are intentionally designed as an introduction rather than an attempt to address every aspect of wellness in two sessions.
The series also introduces participants to the philosophy underlying Bjork’s expanding body of work through Hearts of Wellness: wellness does not have to mean endlessly adding more things to do.
Instead, greater self-awareness can help people become more discerning about where they place their time, attention and resources.
The larger vision can be expressed simply:
Less of your life consumed by managing wellness. More of your life available for living.
A Quote From the Founder
“I know what it is like to spend years searching for ways to support your health while still wanting to have a life that is bigger than your diagnosis,” Bjork said. “The Hidden Root of Wellness is an invitation to stop for a moment and become curious about what you actually need. You may discover that your next step isn’t another thing to chase. It may begin with learning how to listen to yourself differently.”
